Edited by: Eventy One on 09/06/2009 14:37:23 Here are my favourite rumours that I've heard recently:
- Tech 3 Battleships are on their way - winter expansion
- More Talocan, Yan Jung rats are on their way (and you thought the Sleepers were bad!)
- There is an Interbus station in game - but it's hidden. It has an LP agent!
- We will see a race of Vampires (as a tribute to White Wolf in anticipation of another CCP MMO) just as Sansha's Nation are Zombies
- The Jove won't be playable
- The Jove will be playable
- CCP is cancelling the Fanfest
- CCP is providing free beer at the Fanfest
- Deployment of Infiniband is almost complete
- Cat o'Ninetails is a CCP Navigator alt
The above rumours do not represent my personal views, and I cannot verify their accuracy. I'd like to see some of the favourite (crazy) rumours, some of you have seen recently.
I have my tinfoil hat on now (tech 2) |

Originally by: Khemul Zula Edited by: Khemul Zula on 09/06/2009 14:42:18 The rumor that EVE is in fact not dying.
It is a rather silly rumor, but people keep spreading it for some odd reason.
Here, need a tinfoil hat?
I like Abrazzar's rumour above, about expansion into low sec!

First I have heard of this. I sure hope it comes true!
Needless to say, it would be a popular move. |

Originally by: CCP Chronotis one of the oldest rumours I remember from '03 was that Tech 5 would involve biomass and use corpses so there was a wave of corpse collecting for a while for that purpose.
The other was that when you hit 20mill skill points, you morphed into a jove.
Now that you mention it - I remember those rumours.
People have wondered what the bodies are for, more than merely ego collection items.
Another Jove rumour I heard was that CCP is specifically quiet on their long term prospects because fierce battles rage, and disagreements occur about how to actually deal with them.
Can it be confirmed that CCP does actually have a long term vision for the Jove,or will that bridged be crossed when we get to it? |

I heard in game banks (such as EBank) were safer places to keep your ISK than your character account. |

Actually, thankfully Canada didn't either given the rather the rather dubious science blaming humans for global warming.
I'm certain we're a 1st world nation and we rejected the same silly protocol. |

Originally by: Jin Nib Actualy we (Canada) did sign it because we had a Liberal Government at the time which was full of Fail. But it really doesn't matter, because like Everybody Else we are not meeting the ridiculous figures required by the bureaucratic document. In other words the document has about as much meaning as it started out with, none, but I guess it looks good on the resume.
I stand corrected. Apparently we did. That was silly of us.

Originally by: Rhinanna Trying to defend the oil industry sponsored 'research' that says 'oh no, feel free to burn all the oil you want, it won't do any harm honest' is really daft. Practically every report so far that came to that conclusion has been sponsored by an oil company. You don't think that might bias the results slightly do you! :)
Therein lies the problem - the actual problem is not perceived without political bias.
According to the economist magazine (forget which month), the sum total of all human contribution to green house gases is less than 7%.
Seven percent!
Which means all of the chicken little, sky-is-falling politics is bunk. This is NOT to say we shouldn't be responsible stewards of the environment, but it is to say using bad science and bad politics to justify stupid unfounded and illogical policies is just plain stupid.
If this were 900-1300 AD, we'd be blaming our horses for their green-house gas emissions which caused the Medieval Warm Period (MWP). That too, would be a load of horse manure.

Originally by: Rhinanna Yes the 'OMG we are all going to die in the next few years' people are just as bad as the 'Theres no global warming' group, that doesn't mean that there isn't a reason to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to the levels the planet can sustain indefinably.
I think we are both advocating moderation, from slightly opposite points of view.
Climatological history is a bit like the stock market. There are short, medium and long term trends - all none deterministic. All unpredictable.
The fact that we had a Medieval Warm Period shows that this is a non-deterministic dynamic system.
Like the stock market, we can see short term trends, after the fact; like we can see medium and long term trends, also after the fact. Try to predict these trends, and all credibility is completely lost.
Fact is that we've only recorded climatological temperature for what 100 years? Before that, the data is completely reconstructed. What's rule number one of making observations in science? (Use the same measure to measure all data).
We've seen a recent warming trend. There is no science in the world that can show this to be unusual (without making itself look dubious).
No one disputes that we've seen warming. People dispute that any of this is effected by us, in any way shape or form.
Here's what we do know:
I agree we must live sustainably, but because that is the right thing to do - not because our climate depends upon it!
